2010 could be a bad year for big hurricanes.
If last year’s docile hurricane season lulled us into complacency, this year’s hurricane forecast should keep boaters on their toes.
BoatUS sent notice based on this year’s predictions:
Accuweather, a nationwide weather service, recently reported it expects 2010 to be an “extreme season” with as many as 18 named storms, a 100% increase over 2009.
You never know when one’s going to come your way, and if you live on the Eastern seaboard you should have a plan in place for your boat (and your family and house, of course) beforehand. To that end, BoatUS has a free hurricane resource center online, at: http://www.BoatUS.com/Hurricanes.

BoatUS sent this in an email news alert as a reminder of why you should wear your lifejackets.

From the email:
The good news is all survived. The man referenced in the video who needed CPR to be revived is now sitting up in bed and in stable condition at the hospital.
As we approach the summer boating season, I hope this incident helps us all understand the importance of life jackets. Are yours in good shape, inspected and ready to go? And are you willing to wear it more often?”
